Priorities for a fulfilled life

What are the priorities in your life?

I can imagine that you’re taking a few moments right now to think about it. Perhaps some of your answers might be “God, my family, my involvement in the church, time for me…”?

That sounds good…very good even! But are you truly living out your priorities that way? Is it working for you? Or are you trying to pack so much into your 1,440-minute day that you’re running out of time for your priorities? When this happens, the result is inevitable: stress and dissatisfaction.

If you don’t know your priorities and stick to them, you’ll find that the joy in your life collapses very quickly.

To live more consciously and happily, you need very clear priorities. “‘For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it'”? (Luke 14:28, NKJV)

Time is a gift from God. 1,440 minutes in a day. 10,080 in a week. Wow, that’s quite a lot when we think about it! And yet, it often seems too little to “get it all done.” That’s why it’s so valuable for us to sit down periodically and think, “What can I actually do? What can I manage? Have I let some things into my life that are taking time away from my priorities, the ones that bring meaning and fulfillment to my life?”

Yes, we need this planning—it’s important for our priorities and ultimately good for us! Our time is precious, and knowing what’s right for us will give us the joy that matters.

Maybe this thought overwhelms you. Gratefully, though, it doesn’t have to! You don’t have to realign your priorities and time alone, in your own strength—God wants to do it through you! He wants to help you find a fulfilling life that’s both satisfying for you and life-giving to others.

The Bible gives us a wonderful prayer as we seek God about our priorities. Would you like to pray it with me today? “Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.” (Psalm 143:8, NKJV)

Amen!

You are a miracle!

This year has been a year of pain and hurt. I lost my husband, my brother and my friend of 35 years. I’ve experienced a lot of meanness from my husbands family that pains deep in my soul daily. Some days I don’t understand why people are so mean. Then I remember how my Lord was rejected and died. How alone he must of felt. That was my sin. I know he has a plan even if I don’t know or understand the WHY. I do read and listen to the words you share and take courage. Some days I my not read your post . But may catch up and read 4 in one day. Which I truly need your insight as encouragement. So Thankfull for your insight of our Lord. Life sometimes has a way of beating you down. So THANK YOU! You Are A MIRACLE. 💞💞💞

Dear Bonnie, I’m so sorry to read about everything that you’ve been through! I just – this second – thought about how all the hard times in my life brought me to a deeper understanding of who God is – and that I got to experience Him in a way, I’d never thought possible. There’s so much healing, love – and heavenly hugs – to be found, when we draw to Him in and with our pain! Praying you’ll experience this blessing as well!

  7. Zandile on 31/07/2022 at 2:38 PM

Amen. It seems as if I’m not the only who was so confused and I didn’t know what to do, I searched for the sermon about God’s love, but God did not direct me to what I was looking for, instead He directed me to Joel Osteen previous sermon. God said those who hope in me will not be disappointed. Thank you Deborah for your amazing messages. God Bless you abundantly.

      God bless YOU, Zandile!

    Good morning Ms. Deborah,
I spend time with Jesus and you and other pastors. It seems like I’m losing the battle with past and present demons. My husband of 40 years never loved me, he stayed with me because who he wanted rejected him and for 40 years I’ve been in a lifeless marrage. I am now disabled and I am now a burden but it would cost him more to deal with me than divorce me. I feel like Jesus sees a weak ugly woman who once worked as a bookkeeper to now forgetting everything. Thank you for listening to my pity party. Jesus Angels all around you

    • Déborah on 31/07/2022 at 5:24 PM

Andi, YOU are loved! YOU! And you are not alone! I am praying for you right this moment! May God shower you with His love! I know that there’s a miracle to be found in your wound – even if you can’t see it right now! 🙏
