The Internet and The Local Church: Opposed or Complementary?

Home | A Miracle Every Day | Miracles | The Internet and The Local Church: Opposed or Complementary?

A few weeks ago, we conducted a user survey and nearly 3,000 people responded. According to the survey, 83% of these users attend a local church. In addition, they are active once to several times a week!
First observation: The great majority of TopChretien.com users love and attend the local church!

We asked the 17% who did not attend a church or a local group if the Internet gave them the desire to want to join a church.

  • 36% responded “yes, really “
  • 32% responded “yes, a little “
  • 32% answered “no”

Second observation: TopChretien.com makes people not yet attending church want to join one. This is encouraging because we believe in the local church and we believe it is essential to the development of our faith!

We understand that some may have been hurt or disappointed by the church and that to return is not really enchanting. Others are sick and cannot attend. And some have let go of the Lord’s hand and the Internet is a good way to reconnect them with the essential. We are also there for all those people.

Finally, an interesting figure, 94% of the TopChretien.com users believe that the Internet plays an active role in their spiritual life.

So, is the Internet opposed to the local church? On the contrary, I think the Internet is an opportunity that the church should seize. In fact, did you know that 90% of the ConnaitreDieu.com users visit a church’s website before going to the church itself? One more reason for the church to be present on the Internet.

And you, what do you think? Do you have any stories to share about this subject?
