“Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.” (The Bible, Psalm 27:3)
In 2 Kings 6, the Bible tells us the story of a day when a Syrian army encamped around one of the cities of Israel. The prophet Elisha was in the city, and his servant was terrified. Elisha encouraged him, saying, “‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16-17)
How is it possible to be fearless when an army encamps around you? By realizing that those who are with you are more than those who are against you! By praying that God opens your eyes so that you may realize that you are surrounded by His grace and love. And by knowing that even the Lord’s angels are at the service of those who will inherit salvation, the Bible says. That’s you—they’re at your service! (Hebrews 1:14)
Let not your heart be troubled. Have faith in God!. Be full of confidence.
