Are you pressing forward by your own strength?

When Nicodemus came to Jesus by night (see the Bible, John 3:1-11),  the Lord revealed an important secret to him: “‘The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.’” (see John 3:8)

As you know, there are two main types of boats: motorboats and sailboats.

Motorboats have to rely on their own energy. They are generally loud and harmful to the environment. Sailboats, however, rely on the breath of the wind to move forward.

As a child of God, you are like a sailboat… you need to “catch the wind,” the wind of the Spirit! You have to let it push you in order to move forward.

You have a choice: you can count on your own strength and wisdom, or you can rely on the Spirit of God. Just between us, relying on the Spirit of God is much better. :-)

It is possible to do everything through Him. Jesus said, “‘But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’” (see the Bible, Acts 1:8)

Believe this with all of your heart… you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

Be blessed!

Thanks for this encouraging daily devotional. This devotion starts my day on a positive note, which is truly wonderful! I look forward to hearing what the devotional will be each day! Thanks for all that you do!
I know I am like the sail boat in terms of waiting for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me. I have difficulty knowing when to step forward and when to wait, because I have gone ahead of God before and it exhausted me. I am constantly praying though where God wants me in terms of a part time job as I continue finishing up my degree.
Blessings to you and your family.
