Do you always do what God says?

Today, we’re continuing our journey through the book Lord, I Want to Be Whole by Stormie Omartian, focusing on a very important step: obedience to our Lord.

Sometimes, we’re disappointed and discouraged when our prayers remain unanswered. As we cry out to God, nothing happens. The apostle Luke sheds light on this subject:

Jesus said, “‘So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?’” (read the Bible, Luke 6:46, NLT)

In other words, not doing what God asks means disobeying Him. Studying this matter of obedience, Stormie Omartian shares a truth with us that you may still be ignoring today.

Your disobedience to divine instructions may explain why the fulfillment is taking so long, even as you keep praying for the same things. The Bible declares, “He who turns his ear away from listening to the law [of God and man], even his prayer is repulsive [to God].” (Read Proverbs 28:9, AMP) This simply means that your prayer “bounces off the ceiling,” an expression that may be familiar to you.

Sometimes, difficulties can arise due to a lack of obedience. That’s why I would like to encourage you today to walk in obedience. Of course, perfection isn’t of this world, but it’s possible for you to do your best. :-)

So remember:

  • Wonderful rewards are reserved for those who obey God. (Read Luke 11:28)
  • God prefers your obedience to all your sacrifices. (Read 1 Samuel 15:22)
  • Never accept incomplete obedience. Obeying incompletely is like not obeying at all. You must persevere in obedience, and God will give you success. You will reign with Him! (Read 2 Timothy 2:12-13)

The more you demonstrate obedience, the more you’ll experience the glorious freedom that Christ has given you.

I invite you to pursue your healing and restoration process by declaring: “Lord, I don’t want to be crushed every time bad news comes. I want to obey You and follow You. Please show me the areas where I’m still resisting You, and help me to take the necessary steps of obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Be powerfully renewed!
