Do you try to make others see your value?

Are you struggling under the gaze of others? The gaze that pushes you to always want to appear at your very best? Do you feel like a prisoner of symptoms like never wanting to be seen unless you’re perfectly dressed and made up? Or perhaps do you even lie to be accepted?

I always sought to outdo myself…because others’ gazes had damaged my soul in unsuspected ways. I was always puny and small, and my classmates didn’t hesitate to remind me.

When we suffer like this…

• We feel pressured to outdo ourselves.
• We become bad losers.
• We seek to make others recognize our value.
• We exaggerate to feel loved.

Then, Christ freed me from this spirit of competition that, in reality, was hiding a negative opinion of myself. I know that “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” (see the Bible, Psalm 147:3, NLT) There is no wound that God cannot heal and no pain that limits Him in what He does. The pain of the past is healed by His love that’s like a balm for your soul.

Don’t let His image in you be distorted by the lies:

• Of the devil,
• Of others,
• Of yourself,
• Of past and present circumstances.

When the enemy of your soul comes and whispers that you’re worthless and reminds you of your limitations, focus on the Word of God! You are free from every chain, including those of the distorted image you have of yourself. You no longer need to prove your worth to anyone. No matter your race, skin color, level of intelligence, successes, or failures, God loves you. You are unique.

Accept yourself as unique in God’s eyes…and you will perceive your life as He sees it!
