Even if it’s small, your dream matters!

Dreams don’t have to be big for their impact to be significant. Take a look at these “trivial” dreams that Dutch Sheets shares in his book Dream: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life:

  • “Someone got tired of their papers being displaced and dreamed of a paper clip. (They also made sure they were small enough to lose easily so that we would have to buy trillions of them.)
  • Annoyance over trapped food inspired the toothpick dream.
  • A would-be writer grew tired of drawing in the dirt and dreamed of a pencil.
  • A guy with sore feet from going barefoot dreamed of sandals…”

The Bible talks about humble beginnings…here’s what it says: “For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.” (Zechariah 4:10)

Small beginnings appear insignificant and yet, as they grow, these little plans can become great blessings. Sometimes we think that if our dream isn’t big enough, it doesn’t count…but that’s not true!

When my wife and I started TopChrétien in our apartment, and then in our garage that became our make-shift office, it definitely wasn’t what it is today. Everything began with a very simple dream: to encourage people by using media and to share Christ through new technologies. I believe that God inspired this dream in us and allowed this work to grow for His glory alone!

The important thing is not to start big, but to start. Go forward one step at a time, one dream after another. What matters is not so much the size of the dream but the size of the One who helps you achieve it… the Almighty God!

I know that God can do everything and that He is overflowing with wisdom and good counsel. That’s why I chose to put my dreams into His hands. What about you, my friend?
