I’d like to encourage you today with this word from Jesus…

“‘Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.’” (the Bible, Luke 6:38, NLT) 

I’ve chuckled before, thinking, God isn’t very good at math! It would seem that, according to Him, the more I give, the more I receive! Strange, isn’t it?

In the logic of the Kingdom of God, the act of giving is synonymous with gain, not loss! Maybe you’re thinking right now that according to this logic, giving may not be a good and selfless act…but rather an egotistical, “I give to receive,” sort of behavior. Indeed, if we give with a state of mind that isn’t right, God can’t bless completely: He gives according to the measure that we use!

God blesses those who give obediently, without compulsion, out of love for Him. When we give this way, our gift returns to us in an illogically abundant kind of way! :-)

And He has given us so many ways to give! Including…

• Time to listen to an upset loved one,
• Smiling at the supermarket cashier,
• Money given to support a nonprofit or charity,
• Your talents to serve His church or your local community,
• Hospitality as you open your house for a discussion group or a meal,
• And more!

I’d like to encourage you today to ask the Lord…is there a new way that He’d like you to give? As you follow the prompting of His Holy Spirit, He will bless you in return with His measure: surprising, generous, infinite…
