Let the best teacher in the world teach you!

Jesus says in His Word, ““Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”” (see Matthew 11:28-29, NLT)

Allow me to ask you this question: if you were gravely ill, to whom would you turn? Would you be content to see any doctor, or would you seek the best doctor specializing in the area where you needed help?

I’m sure that we’d all want to go to someone who excels in what he/she does…none of us would want to entrust our health to someone who wouldn’t give it his/her all or lacked the necessary expertise.

What about our faith? In order to last, faith needs continual teaching, and the surest source of instruction comes from the Teacher Himself, Jesus. He desires to teach us in all things through His love: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (see the Bible, Psalm 32:8)

So what does He have to teach us? Peter, who understood the essence of Jesus’s teaching, said, “…“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”” (see the Bible, John 6:68)

Here’s what the Lord wants to teach you right now…

• Rest is knowing how to stop.
• It’s ceasing from getting agitated, from struggling.
• It’s releasing, letting go.

Like Mary, stop at Jesus’s feet and choose the good part: let yourself be taught by the One who has the words of eternal life.

Today, I encourage you to enter into the secret place, in your room, and lay your burden at His feet. Then, when you go out, leave your problem there with Jesus in your room. Tell Him… now, it’s You who’s taking care of it!
