Pray like Jabez

It’s time to take a look at 2021 and start praying like Jabez. Have you ever read the prayer of Jabez? It was bold, it was brilliant, and it demonstrated that Jabez had a healthy faith in God. “And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So God granted him what he requested.” (1 Chronicles 4:10, NKJV)
Let’s face it—2020 tested our faith, health, and financial prowess—but 2021 can be our great comeback year. Do you believe this? Jabez believed it, and so do I.
There are a few important elements in this prayer that I’d like you to personalize for your life, family, and business:
- Jabez stood out as an honorable man amongst his peers: “Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, ‘I gave birth to him in pain.’” (1 Chronicles 4:9, NIV) Jabez stood out to God because he was trying to live for Him. Please don’t get discouraged. Your labor for God is not in vain. You will reap good things because of your sacrifice and love.
- Jabez had a rough start in life. His momma called him “Pain.” Can you imagine his home life? “Hey Pain, get me the dishes.” “Hey Pain, I’ll never forget how much pain you gave me in childbirth.” “You’re such a pain.” What was your childhood like? Was there trauma and pain?
- Jabez appealed to God to bless him. “Oh, that You would bless me.” These words remind me of the blind man who screamed on the streets of Jericho: “He called out, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’” (Luke 18:38, NIV) Jabez had a Holy Spirit boldness and faith to ask and be specific.
- Jabez also asked for practical things, like “expand my territory” and “may Your hand be with me.”
- Jabez asked for one more thing: “You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” This is perhaps the request that speaks most loudly about his character. Oh God, please don’t allow me to mess up and cause pain to others. Wow! Jabez was honorable.
2021 can be the greatest year of your life. Be bold and ask God for incredible things because you are designed to be a miracle.

A gf and I have been reading the Bible together every Tuesday for awhile but had to change it to Friday the 1st of January and the first day in 2021.
We ended off with prayer for each other like we usually did and shortly before we said good bye for the day, she made a comment that made my day and Blessed me Way More than she thought and myself as well lol.
She said “
We started 2021 off by reading the Bible! “
It was simple words u would think but see I was and have been loving this time together but didn’t think those simple words would Breath Blessings Spiritually into me the way they did until they were said!
They gave me Great Excitement to be reading the Word of God at the beginning of the year and what way to start it that way but to be doing what God wants us to do do much! We prayed at the beginning and end of the Reading time as we usually do but because she said that and I didn’t ACTUALLY CLUE IN THE IT WAS JANUARY 1st Until she said it ! It gave me a great sense , encouragement etc to be excited for 2021 all the more and to see what God will do for This Year lol
And oh I have to say this as well; by her saying that to me and me getting excited over messenger and seeing my face while I was so excited ( I think) and heard my voice It also gave her excitement and blessed her too like a Big Compliment would do lol I saw on her face as well how happy she was and I knew that in return made her feel so great saying it ! I made sure she knew what it did for me as I don’t think she gets many compliments and I love ❤️ to share good things that people do with themselves with excitement to let them know what they’ve done Very Well lol
Anyway; I know this is long and where am I going with this lol
I’m sharing this to show u how it blessed us to be sharing all that blessing together and by u sharing this Devotional at the beginning of the year the way you did was Great Too. !!

It’s great u send encouraging messages for the beginning of the year to send us hope for the coming days and months ahead. We don’t know what is coming and not coming but by encouraging Each Other ( Christian or non-Christian) we and anyone really could share the Joy of talking about the words of God and being a blessing to all who meet us !

Amen! I also love listening to my friend Paul’s voice ! Such love, it’s also so very helpful since I’m 66 and alone, Covid has pretty much made me live as a recluse, but I know everyday I gave my friend Paul to listen to and encourage me, but more importantly I have Jesus!

I ve bee receiving your inspiration for years now. And today’s reflection moved me. I will say 2020 was a protection year for me except towards the end. Cancer. I start 2021 with a trial like no other. I will pray boldly just like Jabez and humbly submit to our Gods mercy. Continue to bless me with your messages. A sister in Christ.
