Self-talk can change your brain

How are you doing? While we are talking about rewiring our brains, I want to make sure that you are doing well. The governments’ responses to the COVID-19 virus and its variants have taken a lot longer than anyone could have ever imagined. I know many of you have become weary of the mess. I’m so sorry. My heart and prayers go out to you today. If our AMED team can pray for you, please don’t hesitate to email us. We are standing by, waiting to support you in prayer. We love you.

The Bible promises us, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9, NKJV) Don’t give up. God will make sure that we reap a harvest in due season. Please keep reminding yourself of this promise. It will encourage you along the way.

Another practice that will help you to keep on keeping on is self-talk. It will also help to rewire your brain. The Bible instructs us to “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:18-19, NKJV)

Self-talk is both a biblical and psychologically sound daily routine that will help change the way you think, feel, choose, and act. You will believe your words before you believe anyone else. I may tell you that you are amazing, but if you consistently tell yourself that you are stupid or slow, whom will you believe?

Every word you speak affects your self-esteem, energy, and mood. Please stop beating yourself up by saying things like:

  1. I can’t do it.
  2. I’ll never amount to anything.
  3. I’m doomed to be miserable.
  4. I’m such a clutz.
  5. I’ll never be happy.
  6. I’ll never forgive myself.
  7. God can never use me.

These are all lies. Reject them and encourage yourself instead. Don’t forget that the devil is a liar. Don’t agree with him, and don’t give him any help. You are a miracle, and I believe in you.

Thank you so much for helping us out Paul.
You have been our “therapist” the last year and I don’t know how but God must have led me to you cause I have grown and often come back on track when listening to your words. Hey, if you read this Paul, YOU are a miracle!
