Tell me your habits, and I’ll tell you who you are!

Today, I’d like to share with you this quote by Robin Sharma: “An extraordinary life is all about daily, continuous improvements in the areas that matter most.”

I believe this is true. When we think about athletes, we realize they didn’t become Olympic champions overnight. It was their daily discipline in the most important areas for them (sports, good nutrition, mental effort) that eventually made them world class champions.

A reader wrote me this: “I don’t read the Bible anymore like I used to, and my prayer life doesn’t satisfy me either. Sometimes I start my day intending to pray and eventually get occupied doing something else. At the end of the day, I feel frustrated…I need discipline in my walk with the Lord.”

If you find yourself in this same situation, here’s a small piece of advice: you don’t have to start with a huge change in your life to see the fruit from it. A small step every day is enough! Make a commitment today. Start with something small, like praying 5 minutes every day. It may seem small, but you can gradually increase it. 5 minutes is better than no time at all! And over time, you can increase your goal.

Even if it’s a short amount of time spent in His presence, by experiencing it every day, your life will be transformed.

It’s not easy to maintain a new habit! Yet, it’s possible by relying on God’s grace. I love the Bible verse that says, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (Philippians 2:13, NLT)  It is God who will do it through you…let Him lead you and rest fully on Him.

So, I encourage you today to not quit…keep persevering! Don’t give up…but give up everything into your Heavenly Father’s hands!
