What if you could accomplish miracles?

Have you ever felt discouraged reading the extraordinary miracles in the New Testament, saying, “Well, I think that’s great for the disciples, but I’ll never accomplish anything like that!”?

Don’t be so sure, because Jesus declared this:

“‘These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.’” (the Bible, Mark 16:17-18, NLT)

As unlikely as it may seem, His promises of yesterday are still valid today! Sometimes, what prevents us from operating in and manifesting the glory of God draws its strength from the lies the devil wants us to swallow:

  • “This power has really dwindled in our day and age.”
  • “I’m too useless to see the miraculous in my own life, much less that of others!”
  • “I’m not worthy to serve the Lord.”
  • “I have to be qualified first before I can bless others.”

However, God isn’t asking you to do anything special but believe in Him. Didn’t He say in John 11:40 that “‘you would see God’s glory if you believe?’” As for all these false beliefs, remember that God hasn’t changed: He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (read Hebrews 13:8) Remember that the devil is the father of lies. He attacks your identity to minimize God’s work in and through your life.

So I invite you to take this work seriously:

  • Start by listing all these lies and misconceptions in a journal or your smartphone.
  • Remember your identity: you are a child of God, heir of His nature, His character, and His power.
  • Memorize verses that will help you in all your battles.
  • Regularly proclaim the truth to put the devil back in his place: he has been defeated!

Don’t be discouraged…the more you pray and meditate on the Bible, the more your faith and trust in God will increase. He is the author of the signs and miracles that you will see happen in your life and others’ lives. Expect to see the miraculous from today onwards!
