What inheritance are you going to leave?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, “What am I going to leave behind? What inheritance will I give my children, my loved ones?”

God loves when His children pay close attention to the way they live, and He has special things in store for them, as this proverb confirms: “The righteous man walks in his integrity; blessed (happy, fortunate, enviable) are his children after him.” (the Bible, Proverbs 20:7, AMPC)  

In fact, God observes the actions of all men, and He is honored when we conduct ourselves according to His Word, walking in integrity!

What an unusual inheritance!, you might say. When you thought about inheritance, did goods, property, and/or possessions of great value perhaps come to mind? Yet, the best thing that you could leave behind is your example of integrity. Not only will you have been a model for your children, your family, but they’ll also continue to perpetuate this quality of integrity. You can be sure of that! 

Honesty or integrity doesn’t mean much these days. Stealing, cheating, lying, swindling, betraying, deceiving — even a little bit or from time to time — is commonplace and often practiced with neither scruples nor conscience…Alas, even sometimes by those who call themselves Christians…

• Have you made it your golden rule to be as fair as possible towards others?
• Would you accept a gift in exchange for your silence concerning a questionable matter?
• Despite the current trend, have you decided not to compromise in anything, to be honest in everything and towards everyone?

If you answered yes to that last question, you’re absolutely right, because your integrity is precious to God! To such an extent that it comes with a promise and a reward. Yes, the good you do today will still carry weight when you’re no longer here: your children and loved ones will still receive the benefits!

• They will continue to be blessed and happy, 
• They will live in peace,
• They will lack nothing.

Not only are your honesty and integrity blessings to those around you, but they also glorify God amongst those people.

Yes, continue to walk in integrity, no matter what it may cost!
