What is your kryptonite?

Most of us are familiar with the word “kryptonite” from the fictional story, Superman. This superhero possesses extraordinary, superhuman abilities. He has only one weakness…you guessed it: kryptonite! This substance is able to neutralize his supernatural powers.

In his book, Killing Kryptonite: Destroy What Steals Your Strength, John Bevere draws an interesting parallel with our spiritual lives. As children of God, we have inherited:

  • God’s divine nature,
  • His unwavering character,
  • His inexpressible joy and peace,
  • His supernatural power.

The question is: why aren’t we demonstrating this divine character every moment? According to the author, we’re confronted with a type of “kryptonite” that is neutralizing our God-given character and power.

This “kryptonite” can take different forms. Here are a few:

  • Discouragement,
  • Doubt,
  • Temptation…

Yet, the Bible definitely says that as God’s child and heir, you have received His fullness. (read John 1:16) Thus, you’re called to manifest and reflect Christ’s nature on Earth.

Perhaps you don’t think you’re fully demonstrating God’s life and character? Don’t be discouraged. God has chosen you, you personally, and your life matters.

His Spirit is with you to guide and transform you from day to day. I invite you to take this first step to a deep change: ask the Holy Spirit what’s hindering you in your life.

Let’s pray this prayer together…“Father, I realize that I direct my life far more often than You do. I ask for Your forgiveness. Thank You for making Your voice heard and for showing me everything standing in the way of Your will. May my life glorify You! In Jesus’s name, amen.”

I encourage you to let His Holy Spirit renew you. May Christ’s divine nature be revealed with ever greater authenticity and power in you…because you were born for this!

Have a wonderful day!
