You are stronger than you think! ????

This morning, I’d like to share this word of encouragement with you:

“…I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.” (the Bible, 1 John 2:14, NIV) 

You are strong…much stronger than you think! Why are you strong? Because you have a special talent, extraordinary intelligence, or a lot of muscles? No! (Though I don’t doubt that you are talented, intelligent, and athletic!)

You are strong, John tells us, as long as the Word of God lives [remains] in you. How do you allow this living Word to work in you, day after day?

Here are several ideas to help you:

• By remembering every day that you are God’s child and that your Father has your best interests at heart. You can declare Bible verses aloud…it will fortify your faith! (You can download a list of appropriate verses here)
• By singing the Lord’s praises, whether at home, at work, in the bus, at church, when you’re taking care of your children or fixing your car…
• By meditating on the Word of God or listening to a good sermon.
• By reading Christian books written for your edification.

The more you remain in the Word of God, the more prepared you are to face a difficult day, a new battle, or a trial!

When a giant comes forward and threatens you, like David, you can repel and defeat it in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel. You don’t need to be perfect to do this. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, and it’s by His death that we became children of God. As this wonderful song says, “The fight is fixed, I know, I’ll win, I won’t give in, Cause I’m more than a conqueror.”
