Do you know this verse? “…as He is, so are we in this world.” (read 1 John 4:17, NKJV) Another apostle, Peter, teaches us in 2 Peter 1:3-4 that we’re participants in the divine nature – that is to say, even in the essence of God. God has already given us everything, fully, in Him, everything that pertains to life and godliness.
But honestly, there are days when we don’t completely feel this “divine essence,” that we’re called for His glory, equipped to accomplish our destinies…And that’s normal, human.
But when you have these negative thoughts, don’t get discouraged and don’t stop along the way. Don’t give up! Just acknowledge that you need God. Here is what 2 Corinthians 12:9 says: “Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (the Bible, NLT)
Don’t be discouraged…it’s when you acknowledge your weaknesses and limitations that the Lord pours His power, ability, and divine life into you. It’s He who empowers you to accomplish the mission to which He has called you. He’s the One shaping you into His image more and more each day.
Whenever you feel the need:
- Draw near to the Lord with a humble heart.
- Ask Him to reveal your weaknesses to you.
- Tell Him that you need Him, His counsel.
- Take time to listen, and…
- …Act in faith!
You were born of God to accomplish mighty feats in His name. Don’t stop now!
