Are you ready to take the plunge?

“Oh, Déborah. I know I’m supposed to, but I just don’t ever do it!” 

How frustrating. After a 45-minute phone call with a young woman who has obvious singing talent, I gave up. I’ve encouraged her so many times to make something of this gift, but she always finds another excuse why it wouldn’t be possible.

With this conversation in mind, I went for a walk along Lake Constance in Germany. It was an autumn day, and I heard a man say, “The water is 60 degrees. Jump in—it’s worth it!” 

I was shivering just thinking about it! But that’s when I saw a woman in a bathing suit approaching the water. She walked with such great determination that I couldn’t help but watch. With no thought to whether it might be too cold or what others might say, she jumped right into the cold water! I was impressed and told her so. She smiled and said, “You don’t know how good it feels!” 

So often we miss extraordinary moments in life because we don’t “take the plunge.” We doubt, overthink, and talk ourselves out of incredible opportunities. But life still has so many things in store for us if we would “just dare”!

I want to be more courageous and try new things! How about you?

God is pleased when you seek to discover and use the many hidden talents He has placed inside of you. :-) Your life is a gift that you get to unwrap!

Today, my prayer is that you’ll have the ease of this woman who simply jumped into the deep end! “Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires.” (Psalm 37:4, NLT)
