Many game changers shift the atmosphere on sports teams or in classrooms, science labs, churches, and boardrooms by their attitudes. Attitude pours out through your nonverbal actions as well as through your words. The Bible says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21, NIV)
It also says, “‘In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’” (Matthew 5:16, NIV)
John Maxwell says, “Your attitude determines your altitude.” Wow! How’s your attitude? How high are you flying? Has this pandemic caused you to lose altitude?
I’ve learned so much about attitude over the past 28 years in Las Vegas and training leaders in many nations. I’ve struggled with my attitude. I’ve struggled with discouragement, frustration, and doubts. On some trips, I’ve asked God, “Why did You send me here?” or “What am I doing here?”
When I first arrived in Las Vegas, I was criticized by other pastors, people in our congregation, and denominational leaders. Oh, and non-Christians weren’t too sure about me, either. It sounds funny today, but I can assure you that game changers have to develop thick skin. It’s a good thing my mentor, Dr. Dobbins, warned me that at any point, 20% of my church, business, or family would be mad at me. Criticism and opposition are part of your future. It’s time to decide if you’ll become bitter and negative or stronger and more determined.
Barnabas learned this lesson. He had a nickname: “the son of encouragement.” I can assure you that he faced persecution from non-believers and resentment from some Christians. At one point, he even had to part ways with Paul, his protégé. “They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus,” (Acts 15:39, NIV). But Barnabas never lost his faith in God or in giving people a second chance because he had the right attitude.

Thank You Paul Marc Goulet for sending me the daily emails. I Love the fact that you read them aloud and that you add your own life experiences to them. It makes the emails you send, hearing your voice and hearing about you experiences more real to me and it humbles me and gives me hope that God Loves us no matter what we’ve done.
