Do not worry, friend

Publication date Sep 18, 2023

I write this text today with tears in my eyes. We are so open and honest with each other, friend, that I can just tell you this as it is.

While I was writing new texts for A Miracle Every Day, I was worried about various things. Then the doorbell rang and the next worry announced itself. Do you have moments like that too, friend?

Especially when you have "good" things in mind. Especially when you want to be involved in God's cause, no matter what that costs you. Somehow, I can see you nodding in understanding, because that seems to be common to us all. If you set out to live the dream God has placed on your heart, you will always run into storms.

It's not for nothing that John 10:10 says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…" (John 10:10 NIV). We don't like to hear that so much, but we need to hear it because that is exactly what happens whenever you invest yourself in the dream God has placed on your heart. Always. Because the evil one wants to steal your dream.

It hurts to move on, when what you’d really like to do then is cry and say, "I'll just forget it."

BUT, what you should always remember is God's promise—the promise He also made to Gideon when he listed a thousand reasons why he would NOT be able to carry out the mission to free Israel: "The Lord answered, ‘I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.’" (Judges 6:16 NIV)

As I read this verse, with worry on my mind, the truth clicked. I don't even have to think about all my many different worries. I can think of them as ONE worry—because the fact is, the thief wants to worry us with these many worries, and when we get right down to it, that's just ONE worry. And when we give that worry to God, it’s not ours anymore either.

God wants to remind you again today: "Move forward, for I am helping you, friend. Your worries are no worry to Me."

You are a miracle!
