Do you need more strength?

Temptation presents a difficult challenge for everyone. The Bible tells us that Jesus was tempted in all things but did not fail: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15, NIV) So, is it a surprise that you and I are tempted on a daily basis? We’re tempted with:

  1. overeating
  2. outbursts of anger and lying
  3. gossip, envy, and jealousy
  4. greed and pride
  5. unforgiveness
  6. lust of the eye
  7. lust of the flesh

The list goes on and on. Could you add a few personal ones to this list?

How did Jesus resist all these temptations and yet never sin? The answer is clear: He had a divine power called “ischus” in Greek. This word is usually translated into English as “power,” but it means divine strength. Strength to resist, and the strength to keep fighting the good fight of faith. Strength to do the right thing even when it’s hard, and the strength to forgive the unforgivable actions of others. Strength to make it through the COVID-19 pandemic, and the strength to rebuild your business or ministry.

Do you need more strength? I do. During this pandemic, I faced the closing of our churches, school, preschool, and school of ministry. Our ministries worldwide were crippled. We had to adapt, trim our budgets, and move everything we did online. I felt a level of stress that I’ve rarely felt. I knew I was having trouble when I shouted, “I’m quitting!” I even said it twice. I’ve never said that in 28 years of leading this ministry. I was embarrassed. I felt weak and overwhelmed.

Have you ever felt this way? Are you feeling this way now? Please remember these words from God: “‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.’” (Joshua 1:9, NIV)

God will fill you with strength if you ask Him because you are a miracle.

After reading some of the things other people are going through, I see that I do have the strength that he has given me to go through life. My life is hard and filled with loneliness but I know that the Holy Spirit is with me so my battles are spiritual and I do rise up every morning achy in Pain, and thanking him for healing. My faith is strong and I know he can heal me for he has healed me. Amen
