Fear not! It all ends well.

Have you ever been afraid of the future, the end of the world, the pandemic, or a zombie apocalypse? I have. Okay, maybe not the zombie part.

I’ve lived through the Vietnam War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Cold War. I’ve seen a few scary events that seemed to point to the end of the world. There certainly have been enough movies and series like Armageddon and The Day After. I think that deep in the psyche of every human being is the knowledge that the end of the world will come one day. The Bible says, “‘Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” (Acts 2:18-21, NIV)  

Did you know that the end of our world is not the end of everything? The Bible clearly promises, “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.” (Revelation 21:1, NIV) And also, “‘See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.’” (Isaiah 65:17, NIV)  

The Apostle Peter knew this prophecy from Isaiah guaranteed his eternal future and the future of mankind. He was confident about his eternal security: “But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13, NIV)

Are you sure and confident that you will live eternally in heaven one day? You don’t have to fear a meteor or some cataclysmic event if you’re a believer because God has a plan and you are part of it. Hallelujah! Now that’s great news. Believe it, and it will really help you live a fearless life.
