How to pray with faith?

AMED 52.11

Home | A Miracle Every Day | Miracles | How to pray with faith?

Do you have faith? How much faith do you have? I believe most people feel inadequate. Do you remember when the disciples asked Jesus for more faith? “Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, ‘Why couldn’t we drive it out?’” (Matthew 17:19, NIV) Jesus’ answer was priceless: “He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’” (Matthew 17:20, NIV)

In my experience as a therapist and leader, I’ve discovered that most people think the solution to their problems is outside of their abilities and faith. It seems to be a lack of faith, self-esteem, or confidence. Whether your name is Moses, Gideon, or Isaiah, we all struggle with feelings of being powerless.

Gideon lost his faith: “‘Pardon me, my lord,’ Gideon replied, ‘but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, “Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?” But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.’” (Judges 6:13, NIV)

Moses had a list of excuses: “Moses said to the Lord, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.’” (Exodus 4:10, NIV)

Isaiah was faced with his failures: “‘Woe to me!’ I cried. ‘I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.’” (Isaiah 6:5, NIV)

Have you struggled with inadequacy? I face this challenge almost every month. I hear people plead with me, “Pastor, can you come to the hospital and pray for my neighbor? He’s really sick.” My classic response is “Well, I’d love to, but it would mean more if you did it.” I generally have to convince people they have the same power and authority as I have.

Jesus faced this same dilemma: “Then He took the seven loaves and the fish, and when He had given thanks, He broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.” (Matthew 15:36, NIV)

Did you know that you already have enough faith and power to heal the sick or start a new business? The Bible says, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” (James 5:15, NIV)

I’d like to challenge you to make a list of personal and business needs and bring them to God in prayer. Keep track of the answers, miracles, delays, and revelations. It will help you become a prayer warrior who shifts society.

Because you are a miracle.

Great message, yet how do you know the difference? The enemy or GOD has broken my faith. I’m fairly new to Christianity, so I’ve tried not to count any period before asking Jesus into my life and really meaning it. In late 2018 and early 2019, my dad was hospitalized for sepsis. I prayed fervently as often as I could for him to get better – my dad died January 28, 2019. In October 2019, I developed diabetic ulcers on my big toes. Again, I prayed fervently for healing – I lost my left big toe in January 2020. Since that time, I’ve been praying and losing the war to keep my left foot – On March 18, 2021, my left foot will be amputated. I’m not sure, but if what you are praying for is not apart of GOD’s plans, it doesn’t matter how much you pray you are still going to lose.

Mr. Garman: l hope you are still reading the daily comments after ‘You Are A Miracle’! I read yours and l want to encourage you to keep on praying. From my own experience l’m going out on a limb and suggesting to you that perhaps the Lord is trying to get your attention regarding some other issue in your life. Mr. Garman it has been 40 years this December since l was hit by a drunk driver. I have been anointed l don’t remember how many times by three different pastors for healing ~ to give me back the use of my legs. But the Lord chose NOT to because HE HAD A BETTER PLAN for my life (Jeremiah 29:11&12). You know, as well as l, there was no way l could figure out his plan. Three years ago, while reaching for an orange ? in the middle of the night (l am also a diabetic) l fell out of bed and broke my left shoulder and arm (Thank the Lord {which l do daily several times} because now l am down to one working limb ~ and that is my right arm ~ that is why l said Thank the Lord in the beginning). You see Mr. Garman, just the night before, during my devotions, l had prayed that l wanted God to use me in whatever way He could, no matter how. So now here l am with two useless legs and a shoulder and arm that refuse to heal. So now what’s next was my prayer. ?? Rockhill Mennonite Community Nursing Home. So here l am and the Lord is using me in this Home and Blessing me here like l have never been blessed before. I share my full testimony any time l can or am asked to do so in public and again am blessed over and over again. And this is my point. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS TIRN MY WHOLE LOFE OVER TO JESUS CHRIST ~ WE ARE TALKING FULL COMMITMENT TOU OUR HEAVENLY FATHER and leave the rest up to the Captain of our ship ~ The Lord Jesus Christ whom l know will never fail us nor will He ever forget us. Mr. Garman, His promises are FOREVER. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!
