Listen to God

Publication date May 4, 2020
This week, I’d like to share several keys with you for becoming an ambassador of the kingdom of heaven that God, without a doubt, is calling and empowering you to become! :-) Are your ears wide open this morning? Can you hear the gentle voice of the Lord speaking to your heart? Learning to listen to God is one important key to being an ambassador of heaven. “Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to him from there.” (the Bible, Numbers 7:89, NLT) God speaks quite frequently, and He has so many things to say to you. I love stopping sometimes in my prayers to simply be silent and ask Him what He’s thinking of a given situation (like the pandemic, for example) or simply of me. Then I write down everything that comes to my mind, without stopping to think. When I think I’m done, I sort through it...everything that aligns with the Word of God can only come from Him; the rest is probably coming from me. During this time of listening, I let the Lord remind me who I am and that He is the King, the Lord, of my life. We often think that God speaks to others but not to us particularly...Yet, we’re willing to hear Him speak to us. We simply don’t know how to start listening. “For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.” (Job 33:14) “People do not recognize it”...What do we do to recognize what God is saying to us?
  • Reserve a time in our day to listen: the more we take the time to listen, the more we’ll become familiar with His voice. Even if it may seem strange and uncomfortable at first, and even if it’s only for a few minutes, you’ll realize very quickly just how important these moments are.
  • Read His Word regularly. I believe that everything the Bible says is true. By appropriating these truths, I build a foundation of solid beliefs for myself.
  • Ask open-ended questions: “How, why…?” Don’t limit God to a “yes” or a “no”...let Him reveal all that He desires to communicate with you!
Don’t give up, friend. God wants to unveil His wondrous plans for your life! The throne room is open to you...you can approach the Father, and He will reveal to you everything you need to know. When you listen to His voice, nothing can stop you, and your testimony becomes powerful! Begin to release your faith in God’s promises right now as you watch this powerful music video by Kim Walker-Smith called “Throne Room.”
