Seek God’s game plan for your life

Joe Gibbs, the famous football coach and race car owner, started a ministry called Game Plan for Life. It focuses on reaching men with the tools to build amazing careers and purpose-driven lives. My dear friend, Renaldo Wynn, worked for this incredible ministry for several years. I’ll never forget the day Renaldo called me about a career change. He was finishing up a successful thirteen-year career in the NFL (National Football League) and wasn’t sure what to do next. We agreed to pray about it together and see if God would speak to our minds.

Have you ever sought God for your life? Renaldo had other options, but he was craving the perfect will of God.

Jeremiah 29:11 promises, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV) God already has game plans for our lives, but most people settle for paychecks or itles instead of callings.

Do you want God’s perfect will or His permissive will? God will allow you to make choices. Sometimes they’re good and logical choices. But some of us are desperate for the best plan. 

God sees your past, present, and future. The Bible says, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalms 139:16, NIV) He has the best plan based on your inherent, pre-birth design. 

You were designed for a unique and incredible purpose. Don’t you want to find it and live it? 

My whole life was pretty planned by my desires and dreams. I was going to play hockey, get a college scholarship, and then play pro hockey. I dedicated every hour of every day to achieving my goals until the day I found Christ in a personal, intimate way. Then I prayed some crazy prayers, like “What is Your plan for my life?”

Would you start praying with me that the Spirit would show you? Then get ready for a better plan for your life.
