What Does Hospitality Mean to You?

Hello my friend, and thank you for joining me this past week as we have embraced the sharing and generosity of Jesus together! Can I pray for us today?

Heavenly Father, thank you for sharing Jesus and His miraculous life with us. You shared your Son, and the gift of His salvation has changed us. Inspire us today to share our lives with people who don’t know You, and may all of your blessings be used to bless others today, through us! Amen.

This little verse in scripture is a powerful request from God. Hebrews 13:2 says:

“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2, NIV)

In the Old Testament, we find the Patriarch Moses, taking this command seriously, before it was even written! Genesis 18:1-8 says…

“The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, ‘If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.’ ‘Very well,’ they answered, ‘do as you say.’

“So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. ‘Quick,’ he said, ‘get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.’ Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.” (Genesis 18:1-8, NIV)

This simple act of sharing hospitality opened the door to the miracle that God had for Abraham and Sarah. My friend, what small act of sharing could open the doors of God’s miracle in your life? I love this story of sharing from Jean, a friend who has turned a dark moment into an opportunity to be a “praying angel” under God’s direction:

“I was going through a horrible time, and I have a habit when I am bored or doing something, I pick up the phone and start deleting junk mail. When I saw Jesus.net I opened it, and it was talking to me – it literally saved my life! I just love it! And the blessings! – I could never speak enough of ‘A Miracle Every Day’ and Grant as well. It’s just part of my life – it’s all I can say. Now I am also praying [on the prayer team] – I get emails to pray, and I love to do that! I love to pray. I found out about that when I was battling the demon, Cancer. But by the grace and mercy of Jesus, I became victorious!

“Back in 2020, I was waiting for them to call me for the treatment, and I looked around. I said boy, I wonder what I should do – I was so bored. I heard, ‘Why don’t you just pray for everybody?’ I started looking at everyone that was sitting there. I didn’t know their names. I didn’t know the specific reasons why they were there, but I knew they were there for treatments as well… I began praying for their healing, and so it just became part of me – I love to pray! SO, I’m doing that now when I get the emails for the people that are requesting prayer for their needs.”

I love that this friend learned that her pain could be a platform for prayer! My friend, no matter what you are going through, Jesus can take your gift, empowered through sharing, and touch the lives of the people around you. Listen to one more story from Sara about the power of sharing and how God can provide the motivation:

“‘A Miracle Every Day’ really touched my life and brought me closer in my relationship with God & with Jesus. Then Holly (one of our Jesus.net Care Team members) gave me a call and got me thinking about some other things, and I really want to try and serve Him and bring Jesus to other people. Everyone needs Jesus, you know.”

It’s true! Everyone needs Jesus, you know!

My friend, you can be a part of a miracle today simply through sharing, the question is “what can you share” that will bring God glory?  Whatever it is, share away and see what God will do!

You are a miracle!
