What is total health, and is it attainable?
Health has been a big issue in my life for a long time. I’ve worked out several times a week for over 36 years. That sounds like a long time, doesn’t it?
Do you work out on a consistent basis?
God really cares about your health. In fact, He reveals a mystery to us in 1 Thessalonians 5:23: “… and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame…” (1 Thessalonians 5:23, NASB)
God cares about your total health, not just your body. Yes, your body is the temple, but your soul and spirit are equally important. In fact, you are created in the image of God, and therefore you are triune, three in one. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and you are body, soul and spirit. God is amazing, and so are you.
When I speak about “Total Health”, I’m referring to the fact that you are a complex person with 7 aspects of health that need to be cared for. I thought a lot about this concept several years ago as I tried to overcome a life-threatening illness.
Here are the Seven Spheres of Health:
- Physical
- Soul
- Spiritual
- Relational
- Financial
- Career/Calling
- Community
The Bible says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. (see Psalms 139:14)
Isn’t that true?
Could you take a moment and evaluate your health in every dimension? Be honest with yourself, and then go and talk about health with others.
Once you have evaluated yourself, please take some time and create an action plan to improve one area at a time. You might need a counselor, coach, pastor, doctor, nutritionist, teacher or mentor to help you. You might even need to go back to school to improve your skills or get financial guidance. It’s okay, don’t be discouraged…just take one step at a time, and you will see improvement.
Health starts with the changes that you make today.
You’ve got one life to live; it’s more enjoyable living it in good health.
You’re a miracle.
Thank you for this time you are spending on health. Last Sunday I apparently had a mild stroke which gave the left side of my face with the look and feel of being to the dentist. I haven’t been taking my Metformin like I should. Thank God I have full body and neck mobility. I’m sure this is a warning shot across my bow to pay attention. I sure wish I could have visited you church some more in Las Vegas. I was there a few times right after it started in the mid 90’s for Royal Ranger activities.

Thank you for this ministry, “A Miracle Every Day.” I look forward to the daily devotional and today’s addressing healtlh is especially meaningful to me. I am 72, have been blessed to have a career of working with people with disabilities, walk 3-5 miles each day and praise God for His blessings.
