I wanted to know how my friends on Instagram were doing, so I started a poll with the simple question, “How are you?” What do you think the response was? It made me sad to read that a third of my friends were doing poorly! The reason: “Something is missing in my life.”
I remember my childhood. We lived in a high-rise building, and I didn’t have my own room. There was food on the table, and we went to McDonald’s once a year (which was an absolute highlight).
Did I lack anything? No! Not by a long shot! I had more than enough, and I chose to see it that way. Do you know what I mean? If we want to see that we have more than enough, we’ll see it!
So often, we see what we wish we had or what we lack. We see what others have. But do we ask ourselves whether it makes them happy or not? Perhaps we are the happier ones.
The Bible promises us that “…those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.” (Psalm 34:10, NLT)
I didn’t have much as a child, yet I had so much more than many others. I wouldn’t change anything about it. Today, there’s still much that I don’t have, much that I dream about, but I see what I do have. And that’s why I don’t feel like I’m missing anything I need to be happy!
I’d like to tell you something…I lack nothing because I know that God is eager to give me what I long for! The same is true for you. :-) He just asks us to rejoice in Him, be thankful, and trust!
“Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you.” (Psalm 37:4-5, NLT)
Isn’t that delightfully relaxing? Now that you’ve heard that, how would you answer the question, “How are you?”

Psalm 23: De Heer is mijn Herder, mij ontbreekt niets. Ik ben het helemaal met je eens. Als wij zien op hetgeen wij hebben zijn wij als mensen veel tevredener in ons leven en zal er minder afgunst zijn. Als ik zie op hetgeen ik heb, voel ik mij gelukkig en gezegend op elk vlak in mijn leven. Niet alleen materialistisch, maar ook in andere aspecten van mijn leven.

How am I? That’s a difficult question to answer. I have all the basics that I need. I have family that loves me. I have people in my life that I can communicate with superficially because no one really wants to talk about the deeper feelings of depression from having an amputation. See, most of the people haven’t suffered an amputation. Furthermore, I should be happy, but I’m not because I had a dream and a little bit of hope, which blew up in my face. I wanted to be a forester, but because I now struggle to get around anywhere off road, I can no longer do that. The other thing I now question but didn’t before: Is this life all about how much you can suffer and still be joyful because you’re brainwashed to trust God no matter what? I mean think about it – God really promises that you will face trials and tribulations, which means you will get rat stomped. Then, my last thought: Should I ever ask God for anything because every time He blesses me with additional resources, things, and so forth, the next equal or greater the out-of-left-field butt whooping comes. I’ll be honest – My prayers are kept simple; I praise God, I thank God, I confess my sins, and I ask God for things that have absolutely nothing to do with me because I really don’t want God to bless me because I’m tired of getting my butt whipped.
HI JAMES. MY NAME IS KIMBERLY WRIGHT AND I CAN RELATE TO YOU AND SYMPATHIZE WITH YOU. I BECAME REALLY ILL IN 2020 AND ONE OF THE RESULTS OF THAT ILLNESS WAS THAT I LOST THE TIP OF MY LEFT INDEX FINGER. WHEN I SAW THAT MY FINGER TIP GET RAVISHED AND DESTROYED BY DRY GANGRENE IT MADE ME VERY AFRAID BECAUSE THE GANGRENE STARTED INSIDE MY FINGER TIP. ONE MORNING I WENT BACK TO SLEEP AFTER PRAYER AND I WOKE UP AGAIN MY FINGER TIP HAD FALLEN OFF. BEFORE THAT HAPPENED I PRAYED SO LONG AND HARD FOR GOD TO COMPLETELY HEAL AND SAVEY FINGER TIP. BUT HIS ANSWER WAS DIFFERENT FROM MY PRAYER REQUEST. MY NIECE SHANNON TOLD ME THAT GOD KNEW THAT I COULD HANDLE THAT LOSS. SURE I WAS UPSET AT TIMES AND EVEN BECAME ANGRY AT GOD FOR NOT ANSWERING MY PRAYERS THE WAY THAT I WANTED HIM TO. GOD START SHOWING ME OTHER PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR WHOLE LEFT ARM OR LEFT LEG OR SOMEONE WITH A DEFORMITY ON THEIR LEFT SIDE. HE EVEN SHOWED ME A NURSE THAT WAS BORN WITH HALF OF HER RIGHT HAND AND THAT HAND HAD NO FULLY FORMED FINGERS ON IT. ALL THOSE PEOPLE GOD SHOWED ME SEEMED TO BE LIVING GOOD LIVES AND THEY ACCEPTED WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. I HAD A FRIEND WHO HAD ALL OF HER TOES AMPUTATED BUT SHE STILL LOVES GOD AND CONTINUES TO LIVE A PRODUCTIVE LIFE. I JUST FOUND OUT THE OTHER DAY THAT MY ELDEST SISTER LOST ALL OF HER FINGER PRINTS DUE ECZEMA OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT BUT SHE STILL LIVES A GOOD LIFE. GOD IS ABLE TO RESTORE OUR MISSING LIMBS AND SUCH BUT SOMETIMES HE CHOOSES NOT TO I BELIEVE BECAUSE HE MAY BE USING THOSE SITUATIONS AS TESTS WHICH WILL BE OUR TESTIMONIES! AMEN! I HAD SUCH JOY WHEN GOD USED MY ILLNESSES TO WITNESS FOR HIS GOODNESS AND TO MINISTER TO OTHERS! AMEN! SO PLEASE BE ENCOURAGED! I AMOST DIED IN 2020 BUT I’M SO GLAD THAT I’M STILL ALIVE TO SHARE GOD’S GOODNESS! I TRULY WAS BEI G TESTED BY HIM! SND WITH ALL THAT I WENT THROUGH MY ELDEST GRANDDAUGHTER TOLD ME HOW STRONG I WAS! AND THAT WAS ALL GOD! I WAS AND AM ALWAYS CAREFUL TO GIVE HIM THE GLORY! AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STRUGGLES WITH US! I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU ALWAYS. I LOVE YOU AS GOD LOVES YOU. Holy Spirit of God, I call upon Your divine presence over my Brother James and I humbly ask for Your supernatural healing over him from the top of his head to the souls of his feet. Please surround Your son James/my brother with Your angels Lord Jesus with a hedge of thorns and covering of Your Most Precious Blood, and let him feel Your PRESENCE and POWER. I SPEAK PEACE, LOVE & LIFE OVER HIM! This battle Your son is facing is Yours to fight for him, and I am standing firm in my faith in You and Your Word with my full Armour on as it is written in Ephesians 6:10-18. I am also standing on Your promise You made to Your profit Isaiah centuries ago, Isaiah 54:17, for it is written, “NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER. FOR THIS IS THE HERITAGE OF THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD.” I humbly ask Lord God for Your promise to be fulfilled for Your son James/my Brother today and for THY WILL BE DONE!!! All this I humbly bring before Your throne of grace Lord Jesus and I pray in Your Most Precious name through the AWESOME POWER OF YOUR HOLY SPIRIT OUR COMFORTER, ADVOCATE & GUIDE, and YOUR AUTHORITY!!!

Thanks for this devotional this morning! Yes, I would like to have things but if God doesn’t think I should – that’s ALL Right. God is the Joy of my Life. He sent His one and ONLY SON that we can have Eternal Life if we just repent of our sins and ask Him into our heart. Have I stubbled and been disobedient to Him – YES – but as I John 1:9 says “He is Faithful and Just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us (and that includes me) from ALL Unrighteousness.” God is the Lord of my Life! Then next in my Life is my wife (who God has given me to help me through my Life – a rough Journey the last few years – but He has always been Faithful and by our side through EVERY situation), then our children and their spouses ( who all love the Lord) – then ourGrandchildren (all 11 of them), and then my friends! I thank God for all He has done for me and for ALWAYS being there when I need Him. He is so Faithful and sooo Good! I Praise Him for what He has done for me, my wife (The Love Of My Life), my Children and Grandchildren and some Friends (that are there to help me understand things I have messed up – God has given me them to help me in my life I’m living for Jesus). I Thank You JESUS and I Praise your Holy Name!!

Knowing all that I know about the gospel of Christ, I am just fine. Don’t have everything I would like to have but that’s ok… I have Jesus and that far outways anything and everything I could ever want!
