Nothing has to be different.

I still have to grin when I think back to that first meeting with the man whose sermons blew me away, whose books made a great impression on me, yes, whose life simply fascinated me!

I was really looking forward to this meeting, but when the door opened, I was honestly shocked at first, haha. There were things lying around everywhere, screaming kids running around the big living room with their many friends. As it happens, one of the children hurt himself and now howled loudly and the next child nagged because he was hungry. I had not imagined this.

How is one supposed to come to rest here? How is one supposed to hear from God here?

Maybe your life looks the same and you’re thinking, “That’s why it’s impossible for me to spend time with God, let alone hear from Him.”

May I encourage you today? In that—let’s call it chaos—these inconceivable sermons came into being. In that chaos, God gave this man words that were allowed to change many, many, many lives! Words that he might never have heard otherwise….

He didn’t have to outwardly move from his seat to hear from God. As he told me, he coordinated with his wife to always create moments when he could retreat to write his sermons in that time frame, and yes, in the midst of the noise. And those weren’t big windows of time he had there.

But God can give you more in a moment than you can find out on your own in a lifetime! Now that sounds really wacky, but it is the absolute truth!

And one more thought about this. To find God, you don’t even have to look for a quiet place externally. It is enough if you come to peace inwardly.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)

When we give God our attention, we will experience Him, even in the midst of our chaos!

You are a miracle!

This is exactly the message that I needed to receive today. How true it is that we feel like we have to have a quiet spot to listen and speak to God and in this chaotic world there doesn’t seem to be enough time. Your words today show how it can be wonderfully possible. Thank you.

Chaos vs order, thats the battle going on sometimes when different things want my attention. Deborah said the man found an oasis from the chaos, a retreat of getting away so my mind can focus on Jesus and the kingdom. If I don t seek him or stay connected to the vine, I will be as a broken off branch, collected up and thrown into the fire, for eternity. The future is more promising and bright if I stay connected in his will, and
the peace, love, and hope I have will be from him. This should overflow during my day to others. There is a saying regarding the opposite,” If I don’t have something, I can t share it with others.”
      Thank you Deborah,
      Be a blessing!
