“Are you happy, friend?”

Publication date Mar 13, 2025

Are you truly happy? I mean, really happy?

As you know, our lives have a lot to do with the decisions we make. And when I look back on my life, I’m thankful that my parents prayed for me from a young age, because I’ve always made decisions that were “out of the box.” Decisions that weren’t “normal.”

At 17, I had my driver’s license and I was the youngest flight attendant in Europe. And then came the disappointment when I had to give up flying for health reasons, and I ended up in an office job, where I was eventually let go. The next “out of the box” decision was moving to Australia and going to Bible school without a penny in my pocket.

Oh, and in between, I struggled with anorexia and bulimia, experienced sexual abuse, and had no idea if God could do anything with my life. BUT there was one thing I always knew: I didn’t want to live for self-realization—I wanted to serve God!

And I know this decision will be easy for some people, while for others, it’s incredibly challenging. For me, it was always easy because my parents lived it out for me so beautifully—they always showed me that serving God is the most beautiful thing in life.

In Matthew 16, it says: “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24 NLT

Followed by: “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” (Matthew 16:25 NLT)

friend, we quickly get the impression that what God asks of us is something punishing or difficult.

But every word God speaks is true, filled with His love for me and you. 💕

And as you decide: “I don’t want to live for myself, I want to serve God,” you’ll experience the love that heals what’s broken in you. You’ll make decisions not for yourself, but for HIM—and in doing so, you’ll discover the true purpose of your life.

The purpose that will truly make you happy.

You are a miracle!
