Choose to seek the truth

Publication date Jan 20, 2022

Do you like to watch old war movies? Or spaghetti westerns? I do because the good guys and bad guys are pretty clearly portrayed. There are no deep nuances of personality or motives. I always cheer for the heroes and close my eyes during the most violent scenes. Yes, I might be a bit of a wimp.

In our societies, the good guys and bad guys are not always so clear. Politicians seem to spin the truth. The media seems to create new narratives for commonsense problems almost every day. I’ve made a big decision regarding 2022: to look for the truth and choose to live by it. The Bible says, “‘Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (John 8:32, NIV)

friend, our societies are moving away from the power of truth. In my personal experience, I’ve noticed that very few people take the time and energy to seek the truth. Right and wrong have become things of the past. To the world, Christmas is now a commercial holiday, and Easter is about a bunny. Values are passé, relationships are transient, and ethics are fluid.

Are you feeling unstable, confused, or discouraged? I don’t blame you. So I’d like to offer a recommendation to help you navigate 2022: seek the Author of truth, Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “‘...I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6, NIV)

friend, the world is unstable, but Jesus is the Rock. His words are true and powerful. He will lead you along the right paths for your family and business. He will help you invest your time and energy in the correct direction. You will build your life on the Rock because the Holy Spirit will guide you.

Jump into God’s Word every day and base your life on His truths: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)

Seek the truth and live by it because you are a miracle, and God knows the right way.
