Diapers for Christmas?

Publication date Dec 22, 2023

Have you ever thought about how good we have it? When we get hurt, we can go to the doctor. If our stomach growls, we grab a kebab. If we're tense, there's surely a physiotherapist who has some time for us. There's a solution for everything. Well, almost everything...

The Bible speaks of three men searching for something they had been missing! A baby who would forgive sins, guilt, and every mistake committed, giving every person the chance for a fresh start! "...for he will save his people from all their sins." (Matthew 1:21 NIV) Wow!

"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:2 NIV) Laden with gold, frankincense, and myrrh, they finally found this child in a stable!

Why such gifts? Wouldn't diapers, a blanket, and something edible have been more practical?

Practical, that's really the key word here! Because their gifts had a purpose! - Gold symbolizes something royal. They understood that this baby is a king! - Frankincense is a sign of prayer, communication. They confirmed that they wanted a connection with this king! - And myrrh? Myrrh usually stands for dying. Yes, they understood that this baby had come to die.

Why? Why was this king sent into the world to die?

friend, if we needed more fitness, God would have sent us a personal trainer. If we needed better movies, an actor. Even more good music, then He would have sent us a producer. But what we really need is salvation! That's why God sent us a Savior who died on the cross for our sins so that we can be free from all our sins! (A takeoff on a quote by Max Lucado)

Jesus was born to die. You were born to live!

friend, you can now, through a prayer, ask your personal Savior to save you, and unload your sins onto the One who wants to give you life!

You are a miracle!
