Do you feel disadvantaged?

Publication date Jan 20, 2025

“Daddy, can you lift me up?”

My sweet little nephew wanted to see what the older boys had just discovered. But there were too many of them, and he couldn’t see what his big brother had just been given and was now looking at with the others.

I happened to catch this moment on video, and I’ve watched it over and over again. It made me so happy to realize that my three-year-old nephew didn’t feel disadvantaged because of his size, even though he couldn’t see what the others were laughing about. Without hesitation, he looked straight at his big dad and confidently said, “Daddy, can you lift me up?”

He ran to his dad as if it were the most natural thing.

friend, that moment was so eye-opening for me. How often do we feel disadvantaged? How often do we think we’re missing out because others are in our way—or for other reasons, like not having enough money or because we feel inexperienced?

“Daddy, can you lift me up?”—that would be a powerful prayer for moments like that—and really, for every day, including today, friend:

“Father, can you lift me up so I can see things from Your perspective? Can you lift me up so I can understand that I don’t need anything more than You? So I understand that I’m not too small, too poor, too big, too worthless, or anything else because all I need to do is ask You, and You’ll make everything possible that is good and right for me? Let me learn, in every situation where I’d normally feel embarrassed or ‘not strong, not smart, not successful, or not good enough,’ to naturally run to You and ask, ‘Can You lift me up?’”

“With your help I can advance a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.”  (Psalm 18:29 NIV

Amen.

He’ll not just lift you up again, with Him you’ll go further and further then.

You are a miracle!
