Do you wish you could hide?

Publication date Dec 18, 2021

Do you remember playing hide-and-seek as a child? When I was young, there were no video games, apps, or hundreds of TV stations—just imagination and boundless energy. I’ll never forget the games my friends and I played in our neighborhood or the woods. Everything seemed so exciting and eerie, with lots of running and plenty of screaming. I loved finding a good hiding place. Where has it all gone?

There were other times that I searched for a place to hide…but not for fun. These were times I tried to avoid getting beaten up on the way home from school or on the playground. I wanted to find a safe place to hide. But I couldn’t, so I ran and ran and fought.

friend, have you ever felt like hiding?

Life can be rough at times. I’ve heard so many sad stories from people who were sexually or physically abused. They wanted to hide but couldn’t. Others walked through the shadows of death while a family member slowly died from cancer. Trust me, they wanted to hide from the painful reality of suffering. I guess we all want to hide sometimes.

The Bible says that David felt this way: “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.” (Psalms 119:114, NKJV) David found a place to hide in God, in His Word, and in hope for a better future.

I feel like that right now. The world seems to be going crazy, but I’ve found a place to hide in God. He’s my best friend and my Abba Father. He loves you just as much, and you, too, can find a place to hide in Him where you’re refreshed, comforted, and loved unconditionally.

Because you are a miracle, and He loves you more than you could ever fathom.
