friend, express your worship to the Lord in total freedom!

friend, have you ever stood in God’s presence and been struck by His greatness, His power, His love? When your heart remains in this attitude of contemplation and wonder, it’s in an attitude of worship. However, worship isn’t just interior...it’s also seen and heard. It’s a manifest expression of your love for God. Personally, I love to sing but also to take my guitar and worship Him. It’s also true that sometimes, it’s difficult to freely worship God for various reasons…
  • I’m afraid of how others will look at me,
  • I don’t know how to approach God,
  • I’m not comfortable with my body/my voice,
  • Etc.
In praise, there’s a dimension of abandonment and vulnerability. Presenting yourself just as you are before God and expressing your worship to Him sincerely and in total freedom isn’t necessarily comfortable or natural. But, out of love for the Lord, it’s possible to overcome your fears and discomfort, if you have any. In the Bible, one person in particular embodies worship in a very visible way: King David. This is what we read in 2 Samuel 6:12-21, and it’s what this beautiful song and film clip illustrate as well.   David dances in joy around the Ark of the Covenant. He dances with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his strength. He worships God in his own way without worrying about “what others will say.” Our worship and praise should be given freely and as often as possible...I’d say even daily. Worship is a surge of love towards God!  Today, I again invite you to let yourself be amazed and enveloped by the presence of God. Express your praise to God in a new way that you wouldn’t have necessarily tried or dared before. Sing for Him, raise your hands to Him, and dance too if you’d like, but worship Him with your whole heart! :-) All glory be unto His name!
