Feeling Down?
Man, can we humans be moody! Isn't that right, friend?
And it's not just you, haha. I can be beaming into the camera one day, talking about God's power and greatness, and the next morning, for no reason at all, be in such a bad mood that I can't get anything done all day. Surprising, friend?
I'm just human too, haha. I have to remind myself of that constantly. After a super productive filming day, where I recorded seven sermons and was personally encouraged by the content, emphasizing God's possibilities throughout, I was so excited.
The next morning, however, I was completely drained. And the day after, I was still unproductive, staring at my computer... Then, when I decided to go for a walk, something I enjoy doing for prayer time, tears started flowing. And I was thinking, “Wait, what? I preach about God's power, and now my strength is failing me?”
friend, this is where lies can quickly take root, lies that maybe God works with others, but not with you. Lies that what you're doing isn't as important as you think, or isn't needed. Lies that you aren't needed at all...
STOP! This needs a loud STOP! Do you see it? You probably think, “Oh, Déborah doesn't need to think like that!” But thoughts like these affect me too, and that's why I can tell you the same thing back: “You are needed, and you should never think otherwise!”
I stopped thinking like that about myself. Yes, I stopped. You can choose to simply stop believing this garbage and start trusting God's words about your life!
And if tears flow, remind your soul: God IS, and God wants your life!
Even David had his moods. But he also chose to believe God's words about his life:
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalm 42:11 NIV)
Speak life into your tears, friend! Because your tears are seen! (see Psalm 56:8 NIV)
You are a miracle!
