Game changers think outside the box

Publication date Apr 13, 2021

This pandemic keeps taking and taking. It’s been a year of fear, lockdowns, and bad news. It reminds me of when the people of Israel were forced to hide in caves. They were surrounded by enemy nations who loved to steal, kill, and destroy. “Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country. They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys.” (Judges 6:2-4, NIV)

However, God found one man who was different: Gideon. He was different because he found a way to make a living by threshing wheat in a wine press. This may sound like a small matter, but it was 100% not normal. Most people were hiding in fear, but Gideon was hustling to make a living. Gideon was a “Game Changer.” friend, are you hiding in fear during this pandemic or building a new future?

I’ve seen a few game changers during this season of unrealistic fear and shutdowns. They’ve thought outside the box. They’ve increased sales, spent more time with kids, volunteered to help the poor, enrolled in school, and started working out. There is no doubt that our world has been shaken, but these people seem to be growing through it rather than just going through it.

Paul the Apostle once said, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NKJV) Notice that all things aren’t good, but because we love God and are led by the Spirit, all things will be forced to work out for good. God is looking for just one person to be different to change a company, family, city, or nation. friend, God is looking for you to become a game changer.

Now let’s address the hard question. How can you become a game changer?

You’ve got to think differently. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Gideon thought outside the box and received the attention of heaven: “And the angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, ‘The LORD is with you, valiant warrior.’” (Judges 6:12, NASB)

God is waiting for you to take a step of faith so He can do wonderful things for you and through you. Because you are a miracle who will do miracles through Him!
