friend, God is asking something of you
We often approach the throne of grace with our requests and concerns—and that's good! But how often do we ask God what He desires from us? What He would like from us?
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33, NIV)
What does it mean to seek His righteousness?
The Bible says, "No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8, NLT)
God has desires, He has requests, He has pleas. Since we are ambassadors of His kingdom, He provides us with guidance so that we can represent Him rightly on earth. Here are some practical examples of how we should live righteously.
1. We should put His Word into action. "But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." (James 1:22, NLT)
If we don't take time to meditate on God's Word, we are more likely to be deceived by false thoughts.
2. We should love mercy. In other words, we should be full of grace, kindness, humility and generosity; the values that make up God's Kingdom. Do you know the two greatest commandments? They are: "Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39, NLT)
Upon these two commandments hangs all the law! Loving God, loving yourself and loving your neighbor... that is God's agenda for us!
3. We should live humbly with our God. "The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor." (Proverbs 15:33, NLT)
Jesus is our perfect example of humility. Yes, seek to do God's will and what is right in His eyes! "Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind." (see Isaiah 58:8, NLT)
friend, today I invite you to take time to ask God what He expects from you. Check if the answer you receive aligns with His Word. If yes, then nothing holds you back: go for it!
Would you like to pray with me?..."Lord, I want to do what You expect from me... I want to please You entirely. Help me to put Your Word into action, to love as You love, and to walk humbly with You. Help me to recognize Your desires because I am seeking Your righteousness. May my steps today align with Your desires, and may Your presence fill me. In Jesus' name, Amen."
You are a miracle!
