“God Is Stronger Than My Enemy”

Publication date Feb 8, 2025

friend, it is true that we have a powerful, spiritual adversary, BUT we have an even more powerful spiritual ALLY in Jesus! He is strong, mighty to save, purposeful, kind, compassionate, loving, filled with justice, forgiving, hopeful, joyful, and He is delighting in you right now!!!!

Somewhere along the line, Peter lost sight of His powerful ally. As we talked about yesterday, Peter began to trust his own strength, his own words and his own faith to the point where He lost sight of the noble, true, excellent, and praiseworthy aspects of His King. He made bold claims, and his humility disappeared. In this crucial moment, Jesus speaks to him with boldness and compassion:

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32 NIV)

Peter was about to face a fierce trial, but Jesus reminded him that He is stronger than any enemy. Satan may have asked to sift Peter like wheat, but Jesus, our Savior, is more powerful than anything the enemy can do.

In life, we are often "sifted" by trials, temptations, and difficult circumstances. These moments can feel like the world is shaking us to our core. But the truth is, no trial is too great for God. Whatever you are facing today, take comfort in knowing that God is greater than any obstacle, any fear, or any enemy. His power is unmatched, and He will not allow anything to defeat you. When you feel overwhelmed by the trials of life, remind yourself that you serve a God who is stronger than any adversary. His power is greater than the fear or temptation you face.

When I think back over the past two years, I am overwhelmed by the “sifting” that Laurel and I have gone through. We had to escape from the war in Israel. We lost two dear friends whom we have partnered with in bringing the gospel to people, one to cancer and one to a tragic accident. Laurel’s mom passed away and her nephew’s precious baby boy passed away from a crushing medical condition. Laurel’s eye disease has continued to progress, and yet, we have chosen to turn towards God in all things because He still helps, He still heals, He still delivers, and He is our Great Hope!

The world we live in will never be right because of sin, but just like Peter learned in turning back to God, we have the promise that one day it will all be made right, and God will restore all things!

My friend, what areas of your life do you need to remind yourself of God’s strength today? He is strong in battle, and He will pray for you as you turn back to Him!“Lord, thank You for reminding me that You are stronger than anything I face. Help me to lean on Your power and strength today, knowing that no trial is too great for You. Amen.”

Never forget my friend...

You are a miracle!
