God's bountiful buffet

Publication date Oct 8, 2022

I was once invited to a Swabian wedding, and I have to say…it fulfilled every Swabian cultural cliché! I say this with a big grin on my face, too, because I absolutely love my Swabian friends.

When the groom uttered the phrase, "The buffet is open," all the guests jumped from their seats at the same time! Each one then proceeded to fill not just one–but several—plates apiece! Appetizers, main courses, desserts—everything was heaped onto the plates all at once!

I watched the whole scene from my seat, nibbling at the bread that was on the table. I didn't feel like entering the "food fight," so I simply observed quietly, a grin all over my face.

friend, when it comes to people talking about faith, does it ever feel like a "food fight" to you? Or perhaps we could call it a "faith battle"...

It's true that people have so many different opinions and attitudes about faith, and it can definitely be overwhelming. But do you know what? Sometimes I think it's ok to just stay still and remain in peace.

I say this because we're not supposed to become like people…we're supposed to become like Jesus. And how do you become like someone, friend? By getting to know that person, spending time and interacting with him/her, asking questions, etc. In our desire to become like Jesus, we can do all these things through prayer!

Faith is not a battle, friend…it is a relationship. Jesus wants you to be whole. He wants to be your friend. I encourage you to get to know Him for yourself—personally, quietly.

As you do so, you can be reassured that His buffet, which is full of love, patience, forgiveness, answers, hope, trust, healing, and hugs, will always be full!

In fact, John 1:16 gives us this amazing guarantee: "For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]." (John 1:16, AMP, bold added)

God's buffet is superabundant, full, limitless…no matter how many times people go back for more! Yes, we can each eat our fill at His table and be fully satisfied. :-)

Today, you're invited to bring your plate to the Lord's table, friend. An endless, gloriously bountiful feast awaits you there!

You are a miracle!
