Honor your mom 👩
Isn’t it a great opportunity to honor your mom today? I’m not sure who chose this day as Mother’s Day, but they must have been geniuses. Hey moms, you are modern-day heroes. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman can’t compare to your exploits. Because you are real, those diapers were real, those late-night feedings were so real, and those meals you prepared were completely real. You are amazing. Today we honor you with tons of love and accolades.
The Bible says, “‘Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.’” (Exodus 20:12, NIV)
friend, did you notice that this is the first commandment with a blessing connected to it: “so that you may live long in the land”? All of us have moms, but not all of us honor them. The word “honor” in Hebrew is kabad. In context, it means to be heavy, weighty, rich, honorable, and glorious. That pretty much describes the role and calling of a mom.
I’ve watched my wife give birth to and care for three children. Wow! I’m not sure how she did it, but it was amazing. I’ve watched her open her home to two sons from Africa. Jojo was 6’8” inches tall, and Fernand was 6’11”. She fed them and became a mom to both of them. We now have several grandkids, and she shows the same dedication as she has always shown. My two daughters are also rock stars. They each have four children and demonstrate a level of commitment and excellence that consistently amazes me.
So, sons and daughters, please shower your mom with praise, gifts, and gratitude. Moms, be blessed beyond belief for who you are and what you’ve done. Today we honor you and pray for a special visitation of the Holy Spirit in your life because you really are a miracle.
