How does your future look?
I’m shocked by the number of people who are terrified, discouraged, and angry. The world seems to be shaking in cataclysmic ways, according to some media outlets and politicians.
The Word of God is clear that the end of our world will come one day but not in this way: “‘You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.’” (Matthew 24:6, NIV) It’s not unusual for you to think that this is the worst age, the most terrifying set of circumstances, and an introduction to the end of the world.
The disciples had the same impression two thousand years ago. In fact, they cornered Jesus one day with a pressing question about this: “As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately. ‘Tell us,’ they said, ‘when will this happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?’” (Matthew 24:3, NIV)
Notice the disciples asked two important questions:
- What will be the sign of Your coming?
- What sign will come in regards to the end of the age?
friend, don’t be worried about the end. It’s only the end of one age…a new age is coming. Hallelujah! There are hundreds of verses that speak about the new heaven, the new earth, and the Kingdom of Heaven. Don’t be afraid of death, Armageddon, or a meteor cataclysm. Be filled with the Spirit of God and pour your life into others.
I have discovered an incredible secret when it comes to happiness: if I take my eyes off of myself, life is better. The Bible addresses this solution in Hebrews: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, NKJV)
friend, I have great news for you: Jesus is coming, and He will usher us into a new age. He’s looking for people who spend their lives giving to others, loving others, and building God’s Kingdom through businesses and organizations that add to society. Live like Jesus may come back tomorrow, but build like He’s coming back in a thousand years.
You can do it because you are a miracle, and miracles make things happen.
