How many blessings can you count in one week? 🧮

Publication date Nov 27, 2020

COVID-19 is still very active in the world right now. It’s a difficult season for many, but some have discovered a secret weapon: counting their blessings every day.

It may sound simple or even naive, but the practice of looking for blessings in the midst of a dark season is powerful and effective.

Have you been counting your blessings?

The Bible teaches us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17, NKJV)

In order to count your blessings, you will need to find them. There’s an old Sunday school song I’ve sung a thousand times: “Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your blessings, see what God has done.” This song always reminds me that gratitude is a choice.

Another song that has always inspired me was sung by Andraé Crouch, the great gospel singer. It is entitled “To God Be The Glory.”

Please take a few moments and listen to these two songs today. Let them go deep into your soul and spirit. God is so good. He loves you, and He’s surrounded you with so many blessings. You may need to work a little to find them, but when you do, underline them and repeat them.

I was recently in Jerusalem with my eldest grandson. We had the privilege of going on a mini archeological dig that was designed for tourists like us. It was a blast! But then my back started hurting, and the rocks and dirt kept adding up without us finding anything at all. All of a sudden, my grandson, Luke, found a dirt-encrusted, round object. It didn’t look significant, but we decided to get it checked out by the experts. Eureka!!! It was a 2,000-year-old coin.

Just like that dig, blessings are often hidden in the dark, encrusted, hard times of life.

So, friend, do you want to go treasure hunting this week? Find, highlight, and repeat your blessings. You will begin to notice that your attitude, and your results, will change.

Because you’re a miracle.
