Jesus, Where Are You?

Publication date Jun 20, 2023

I could never write these "miracle texts" every new day if everything ran smoothly for me, friend.

Every now and then it takes a storm in my life to make me cling to God full of trust, and to experience God's intervention myself. This is what I pass on to you.

The worst storms for me are the ones where I think Jesus will leave me to get through it alone. It’s as if I urgently need the help of a friend in my distress, but he just doesn't answer the phone.

Have you experienced these moments too, friend?

Job definitely knew them, which is why he said, "If only I knew where to find Him, I would go out to his [God’s] dwelling.” (Job 23:3 NIV) "But if I go to the east, God isn’t there. If I go to the west, I don’t find him." (Job 23:8 NIRV)

I think we've all been at this point. Maybe this is your current place, friend. What do you do now?

There is a phrase in Ephesians that always speaks to me:

"Make the most of every opportunity..." (Ephesians 5:16 NIRV).

It doesn't suggest making the best possible use of the times only when things are going well for you. But how can we make the best possible use of the times when we are not feeling well and not sensing God? The verse continues with the answer we need, "So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.” (Ephesians 5:17 NIRV)

I believe Job understood that it was not about himself, for as we know, his story has gone down in Scripture. It encourages us today to trust, even when everything is taken from us.

How encouragingly Job’s story wraps up! It says at the very end—after his endurance—"The Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life even more than the first part.” (Job 42:12 NIRV)

friend, I write to you about the miracles, not the storms themselves. Often when I’m in the storm, I don’t see or understand God, but even then, I choose to trust and persevere.

In every storm (also in yours!) there is a blessing, even if we don't see it today!

You are a miracle!
