Joseph was a game changer
Do you have a dream for your life? Do you have a calling, passion, or divine assignment that motivates you? Everyone has heard of Joseph. Countless sermons have been preached about his wisdom and skill as a leader in Egypt.
Do you know the full story of Joseph? Do you know what set him apart? Was it his ability to overcome adversity? Can you imagine being beaten by your brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused of rape, and forgotten by the people you had helped? Talk about a rough life. But somehow, Joseph kept getting back up after every betrayal. He had this incredible ability to overcome huge adversity, rise in leadership, and influence in every context: “‘So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.’” (Genesis 45:8, NIV)
friend, have you had to face tough times in the past 12 months? Have you learned the secrets of overcoming and growing in influence? I believe there were two important ingredients in Joseph’s life that helped him rebound every time:
- Joseph had dreams that helped him hold on in tough times: “Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.” (Genesis 37:5, NIV) These dreams had a lot to do with his identity and future. friend, do you know who you are? Do you have a dream that drives you and propels you to keep going?
- Joseph chose to forgive everyone who hurt, betrayed, beat, and forgot him: “‘You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.’” (Genesis 50:20, NIV)
friend, I’m praying that you receive a dream or find your passion in life. Who you are and what will drive you are two critical questions you will need to answer. I’m also praying that you will forgive everyone who has hurt you, abused you, betrayed you, or let you down. Game changers have dreams and leave the garbage of their pasts in the past.
friend, you can become a game changer.
