Just like Jesus!

Publication date Dec 7, 2024

“Be imitators of God therefore as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”(Ephesians 5:2, NIV)

Let me share a story from my own life:

I used to take my son Braden to Canada to get his braces worked on. I never had a problem convincing the border patrol people that Braden is my son. I told one of them, “This is my son,” and she replied, “no way, ya think?” There is a strong family resemblance! One of the components of God’s personality is that we are supposed to resemble Him in being a reflection of His giving and generous heart. If you love Jesus, and follow Jesus and want to be like Jesus, then one of your pursuits should be to give like Jesus gave!

friend, the Bible tells us that we were created in Gods’ image. If we were created in God’s image, then the ultimate pursuit for us should be to look like Jesus. Not just some vague family resemblance, but a striking resemblance to Jesus!

When we spend time with Jesus, we become like Him. All the things of this world become dim, and we turn our eyes and make a conscious choice to reflect Jesus in all we do.

When God gave, He gave sacrificially, completely, ultimately, and today, friend, He gives us an opportunity to do the same. First, with our whole lives as we accept him as our Savior and Lord. Secondly, as He brings a desire into your life to resemble Jesus, more and more.

And at the end of the race of life, friend, we gain the ultimate riches: Life forever with Jesus as our greatest treasure! The Bible says:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-20, NIV

Jesus wants it all because He gave it all. Never forget my friend...

You are a miracle!
