Keep At It—Even With Negative Comments

Publication date Jul 30, 2023

"To me, French sounds very unpleasant, the sound is not very positive. Why don't you sing in German? Or how about Russian?" Whew, another one of those comments on Facebook that doesn't seem very uplifting.

I had just posted the video for my song "Une Prière" and was so infinitely happy about it, because it already existed in German and English. My first reaction was, "Oh man, I have to respond to that right away!"

But I've learned to take a step back inside in those moments, take a breath, and then just get on with life without giving that person the power to take away my joy!

You don't have to give everyone the power to talk into your life.

If Job had had Facebook, his profile picture would not have been the most beautiful: “So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.” (Job 2:7 NIV).

To make things worse, even his wife didn’t support him. “His wife said to him, ‘Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.’” (Job 2:9 NLT)

Yet Job ignored even his own wife's comment! His relationship with God was the most important thing to him and he listened to Him first before he listened to men: “...We must obey God rather than human beings!” (Acts 5:29 NIV)

He knew that God had GOOD in mind despite the current circumstances, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

That is exactly what Job was allowed to experience! He made the outcome positive by not giving negative comments power over his life! This certainly cost him a lot of strength at the moment, but ultimately turned into blessings.

friend, I also want to encourage you to trust in God completely today! No matter what people say to you or about you that hurts you and tries to slow you down, don't give those comments your precious time or attention!

Listen first and foremost to the one who promises you today: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

You are a miracle!
