Seek, trust and obey.
We're still pondering the big question, "How do I make the right decision?"
I'd shared with you a few days ago that I'd been offered my dream job, but something just didn't seem right…Let's look together at the steps that are important for us to walk in what God has for us.
friend, I mentioned yesterday that I'm totally impressed by King Solomon. When God offered to give him anything he could possibly desire, Solomon gave an answer that still amazes me every time I read it: he desired wisdom! (see 1 Kings 3:9)
We think to ourselves, what an incredible response! He gives up his own desires and just asks for wisdom. But wait a minute! If you look a little closer at this passage in the Bible, you'll see that Solomon did not relinquish his desires—rather, he entrusted them to God.
"…'You have shown great kindness to Your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to You and righteous and upright in heart…'" (1 Kings 3:6, NIV). Aha! So Solomon knew that if he continued to trust God with everything and listen to Him, God would look after him.
Is it just me, or have we never really noticed that verse until now? If we remain obedient, we, too, will experience God blessing us quite surprisingly, even when it might not look that way at first! Now that's a great encouragement.
Yes, Solomon desired wisdom to discern right from wrong. (see 1 Kings 3:9) God will not make your decision for you, friend, but He will help you see the truth between right and wrong.
Lurking within me at this point was a seemingly unfounded fear of disobeying God through this new job. It was just a feeling, but I went on a walk I'll never forget, bringing that feeling before Him through prayer and praise before making a decision. Obedience before decision. God before money. Light before darkness.
friend, obedience isn't always easy. God before money is not easy at all. Or God before feelings. But He will reward your obedience with far more than you could ever lose!
Can you believe that, friend?
You are a miracle!
