The blessings of joy
The more I study the gift of joy, the more I want to access it. Joy is available to you every day. You can laugh more and be more productive. The Bible says, “For You grant him lasting blessings; You give him great joy by allowing him into Your presence.” (Psalms 21:6, NET) If you take a few moments to analyze this verse, you’ll find three more secrets about joy:
- God will grant you blessings that last. Gratitude will pour out of your mouth.
- God promises to give you joy. In other words, joy is a gift directly tied to blessings.
- God will allow you to enter into His presence. The psalmist says, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give Him thanks! Praise His name!” (Psalms 100:4, NET)
friend, are you positioned for blessings? God wants to shower you with blessings that can come in many forms. You may receive a new job or a promotion. You may access a grant to start a new company or a scholarship to finally get your college degree. Blessings bring great joy, don’t they?
I’m entering a new season in my life. COVID-19 has caused me to reevaluate my life and make a few dramatic changes. Change is hard, but I’ve really tried to focus on my blessings. I’ve been thanking God a lot lately. I know I don’t deserve these blessings, but I also know that God is good and generous.
Do you remember the old Sunday school song that helped us develop an attitude of gratitude?
Count your blessings; name them one by one. Count your blessings; see what God has done. Count your blessings; name them one by one.Count your many blessings; see what God has done.
friend, if you give thanks for your blessings, you will experience more joy, and you will overflow with it. Oh, by the way, you are a miracle. And I love you more than donuts.
