The God who multiplies

Publication date Nov 19, 2022

"Wow, you have a beautiful home!" I went to visit my best friend from school days, and my jaw dropped when I stepped in the door. Even as I complimented her, a quiet thought inside of me was getting louder and louder: "Déborah, if you hadn't invested so much in your mission, you could've had a beautiful home like this, too..."

friend, do you know what I've learned? "Either…or" is a human thought. "Life and that more abundantly" is the divine thought! (see John 10:10, KJV)

I've also learned that experiencing the fullness of that life depends on our willingness to give. Does that make sense? Humanly speaking, maybe not. But divinely, it does! God LOVES to multiply what we willingly give.

The disciples' mission was to care for the many people who followed Jesus. These twelve men had invested everything they had in these people.

One evening, after teaching multitudes of people, Jesus inquired of His disciples, "...'How many loaves do you have?...'" (Mark 6:38, NKJV)  I can imagine the disciples thinking to themselves, "Do we really have to share our last loaves? We're hungry, too!" But they gave them away, and Jesus did what He does so well: He multiplied their simple offering so there was more than enough for everyone! He proved that nothing is impossible for God. To HIM alone belongs the glory!

"...He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully." (2 Corinthians 9:6, NKJV)

When my friend called me years later and said, "I'm moving out of my house, and I want you to move in here," I started to better understand this verse. God loves to bless us as we obey Him! I could never have acquired such a place myself, but nothing is impossible for God! :-)

friend, if you are willing to invest in the mission HE has given YOU, you will see Him more than willing to invest in the dream YOU have given HIM!

All glory be unto God for what He has done—and will do—in your life! Can I get an amen today? :-)

You are a miracle!
